Mid-Willamette Jobs Council Appoints the Mid-Valley Workforce Board

Incite Incorporated announces the formation of the new Workforce Board under the

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act 

SALEM, OR – The Mid-Willamette Jobs Council (MWJC), comprised of county commissioners from Linn, Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties, met yesterday April 8, 2015 to form and appoint the new Mid-Valley Workforce Board (MVWB) required by Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) signed in July of 2014. The changes ordered by this new act are required to be in effect by July 1, 2015. The makeup of the new board consists of 51% local business representatives with decision-making authority within their organizations. The remainder of the board is a mixture of mandatory partners which represent labor, community-based organizations, education, government, or economic development.

The new MVWB is scheduled to convene their first meeting on April 24, 2015 at 7:30am at the Chemeketa Center for Business and Industry at 626 High Street Northeast, Room 203, Salem, Oregon 97301. Meetings held by the MVWB are open to the public and public comment is invited.
